Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Finance was held on Wednesday, February 14, 2007, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.036, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 8:01 a.m.  The following business was transacted: 

 

Senator Zaffirini assumed the chair. 

 

The chair laid out as pending business, SB 1.

 

The roll was called, and a quorum was established.

 

Testimony was given on the following health related institutions and agencies.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. 

 

Texas A&M University System Health Science Center

 

Senator Ogden resumed the chair. 

 

Testimony continued.

 

Senator Zaffirini assumed the chair. 

 

Testimony continued.

 

The University of Texas System

 

Senator Zaffirini moved that SB 1 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Ogden resumed the chair. 

 

At 10:35 a.m. Senator Ogden moved that the Committee stand recessed until 45 minutes after the adjournment of the Senate; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Zaffirini reconvened the Committee at 2:30 p.m.

 

The chair laid out as pending business, SB 1, which had been left pending earlier in the hearing.

 

Testimony on the following health related institutions and agencies resumed:

            The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston

            The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston

            The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio

Senator Ogden assumed the chair.

 

Testimony continued.

 

Senator Ogden announced that agencies not providing testimony would be rescheduled for a later hearing date.

Senator Ogden moved that SB 1 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

There being no further business, at 5:28 p.m. Senator Ogden moved that the Committee stand recessed until 8:00 a.m., February 15, 2007.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
