Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Jurisprudence was held on Monday, October 27, 2008, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.012, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 2:45 p.m.  The following business was transacted: 

 

The chair announced that the committee stand in recess until 3:30 p.m. 

 

At 3:30 p.m. the committee reconvened.

 

The clerk called roll.  There was a quorum present.   

 

Senator Harris moved adoption of the minutes from the previous hearing held on October 1, 2008; without objection, it was so ordered.  

 

Senator Harris moved to reconsider the recommendations for interim charge seven.  The motion carried with a record vote of 4 ayes, 1 nay, 0 present not voting, and 2 absent.

 

Senator Harris moved to withdraw the recommendations for interim charge seven.  The motion carried with a record vote of 4 ayes, 1 nay, 0 present not voting, and 2 absent.  

 

There being no further business, at 3:38 p.m. Senator Wentworth moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
