Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Government Organization was held on Tuesday, January 23, 2007, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.012, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 11:43 a.m.  The following business was transacted:

 

The chair called Joey Longley of the Sunset Advisory Commission to provide invited testimony on Sunset Advisory Commission issues and recommendations.

 

A quorum was present at 11:47 a.m. The clerk called the roll at 11:50 a.m.

 

The chair laid out proposed committee rules for the 80th Legislature.  Senator Nelson sent up  amendment 1 to the proposed committee rules. 

 

Senator Nelson moved adoption of amendment 1 to the proposed committee rules.  There being no objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Nelson moved adoption of the proposed committee rules, as amended.  There being no objection, the committee rules, as amended, were adopted.

 

The chair introduced committee staff and recognized other members to introduce their staff representatives.

 

 

 

There being no further business, at 11:57 a.m. Senator Ellis moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
