Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Government Organization was held on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, in the Betty King Committee Hearing Room, 2E.20, at Austin, Texas.

The Senate Committees on Government Organization and Veteran Affairs and Military Installations Committee met in a joint hearing to hear testimony on SB 917.
Senator Ellis called the Senate Committee on Government Organization to order at 1:16 p.m. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
Senator Van de Putte called the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs and Military Installations to order at 1:19 p.m. the following business was transacted:
The chair laid out SB 917 and recognized the author, Senator Shapleigh, to explain the bill.
At 1:30 p.m. Senator Hegar assumed the chair.
Witnesses testifying and/or registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.
The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.
Senator Hegar moved that SB 917 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.
There being no further business, at 3:01 p.m. Senator Hegar moved that the Senate Committee on Government Organization stand recessed subject to the call of the chair; without objection, it was so ordered.
At 3:01 p.m. Senator Van de Putte moved that Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations stand recessed subject to call of the chair; without objection, it was so ordered.
