Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Subcommittee on SB 1359, SJR 45 was held on Thursday, April 26, 2007, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas.

Senator John Carona, the Subcommittee chair, called the meeting to order at 7:34 a.m.  The following business was transacted: 

 

The chair laid out SB 1359 and SJR 45 and recognized the author, Senator Ellis, to explain the bills. Senator Ellis sent up a committee substitute to SB 1359 and SJR 45; the chair recognized Senator Ellis to explain the difference between the committee substitutes and the senate bills as filed. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bills are shown on the attached list. 

 

Upon arrival of a quorum, the chair requested the roll call.  Senators Carona, Ellis, Fraser and Lucio, Jr. were all present.  A quorum was established at 8:30 a.m.  Senator Jackson arrived after the roll call.

 

Senator Ellis moved adoption of the committee substitutes to SB 1359 and SJR 45; without objection, it was so ordered.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  The chair moved that SB 1359 and SJR 45 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

There being no further business, at 9:48 a.m. the chair moved that the Subcommittee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
