Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services was held on Tuesday, August 26, 2008, in the Senate Chamber at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:01 a.m. There being no quorum present, the following was transacted:
The chair welcomed members and guests and made opening remarks on Charge #7 relating to Wellness Issues.
The chair opened the floor to invited testimony on Charge #7.
Upon arrival of a quorum, Senator Deuell moved adoption of the minutes from the previous hearings held on May 28, 2008; without objection, it was so ordered.
Witnesses registering and testifying are shown on the attached list.
The chair opened the floor to public testimony on Charge #7.
Witnesses registering and testifying are shown on the attached list.
At 12:54 p.m. Senator Deuell assumed the chair.
The chair moved that public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.
The chair opened the floor to invited testimony on Charge #9 relating to Pandemic Flu.
Witnesses registering and testifying are shown on the attached list.
At 1:19 p.m. Senator Nelson resumed the chair.
There was no public testimony on Charge #9.
There being no further business, at 2:45 p.m. Senator Nelson moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
