Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services was held on Monday, October 13, 2008, in the Senate Chamber at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m.  There being no quorum present, the following was transacted: 

 

The chair welcomed members and guests and made opening remarks on Charge #11 regarding Adult Stem Cells.

 

The chair opened the floor to invited testimony on Charge #11.

 

Witnesses registering and testifying are shown on the attached list.

 

Upon arrival of a quorum at 10:08 a.m. Senator West moved adoption of the minutes from the previous hearings held on September 16, 2008 and September 17, 2008; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

The chair opened the floor to public testimony on Charge #11.

 

Witnesses registering and testifying are shown on the attached list.

 

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

The chair made opening remarks on Charge #3 regarding Resiliency and Disease Management.

 

The chair opened the floor to invited testimony on Charge #3.

At 1:59 p.m. Senator Shapleigh assumed the chair.

 

At 2:09 p.m. Senator Nelson resumed the chair.

 

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

The chair opened the floor to invited testimony on Mental Health and Traumatic Brain Injury Services for Military Veterans.

There being no further business, at 3:09 p.m. Senator Nelson moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
