Pursuant to the suspension of Senate Rules 11.10 and 11.18 by Senator Van de Putte, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs & Military Installations was held on Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Senator Van de Putte's Desk on the Senate Floor in Austin, Texas.

On May 21, 2007, Senator Van de Putte suspended Senate Rules 11.10 and 11.18 on the Senate Floor to take up and consider HB 1275, HB 3396, and HCR 16, HB 2398, HB 2895, HB 2896, HB 2897, HB 3787, HB 3879, SR 941, SCR 76, SCR 77, and SCR 79. The Chair called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
As a matter of pending business, the Chair laid out HB 3396 and recognized Senator Shapleigh to explain the bill in absence of the Senate Sponsor, Senator Uresti. Senator Shapleigh withdrew the previously adopted Committee Amendment 1 for HB 3396 and sent up Committee Amendment 2 and moved adoption; without objection, the amendment was adopted. Senator Shapleigh moved that HB 3396 as amended be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 4 ayes; 0 nays; and 1 absent. Senator Shapleigh moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local and Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.
As a matter of pending business, the Chair laid out HB 1275 and recognized Senator Estes to explain the bill in absence of the Senate Sponsor, Senator Uresti. Senator Estes moved that HB 1275 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 4 ayes; 0 nays; 0 present not voting; and 1 absent. Senator Estes moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local and Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.
