Pursuant to HCR 70, a public hearing of the Select Committee on Public School Accountability was held on Monday, May 12, 2008, in Houston, Texas.

Representative Eissler called the meeting to order at 12:06 p.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: 

 

Representative Eissler and Senator Shapiro, as Co-Chairs, shared presiding duties throughout the hearing.

 

Representative Eissler and Senator Shapiro made opening remarks to the Committee.

 

The Chair recognized Dr. Wanda Bamberg for Aldine ISD's outstanding achievements.  Dr. Bamberg made opening remarks to the Committee, and answered questions from Committee members.

 

The Chair recognized Dr. David Splitek for Lackland ISD's outstanding achievements.  Dr. Splitek made opening remarks to the Committee, and answered questions from Committee members.

 

At 2:38 p.m. Representative Eissler opened public testimony.  Witnesses testifying and registering are shown on the attached list.  Representative Eissler moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

There being no further business, at 3:54 p.m. Representative Eissler moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
