Pursuant to HCR 70, a public hearing of the Select Committee on Public School Accountability was held on Monday, August 4, 2008, in El Paso, Texas.

Senator Shapiro called the meeting to order at 10:08 a.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: 

 

Senator Shapiro and Representative Eissler, as Co-Chairs, shared presiding duties throughout the hearing.

 

Senator Shapiro made opening remarks to the committee.

 

The Chair recognized the following persons to make opening remarks:  Senator Eliot Shapleigh, Dr.  Diana Natalicio-President of the University of Texas at El Paso, Dr. Lorenzo Garcia-Superintendent El Paso ISD

 

 

 

At 12:19 p.m. Representative Eissler assumed the chair. 

 

At 1:07 p.m. Senator Shapiro resumed the chair.

 

Witnesses testifying and registering are shown on the attached list.

 

There being no further business, at 3:43 p.m. Senator Shapiro moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
