R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, June 4, 2009, marked the 60th wedding anniversary of |
|
Bob and Betty Gaines of Midland, providing a fitting opportunity to |
|
reflect on their memorable journey together as husband and wife; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Bob Gaines and the former Betty Land were joined in |
|
matrimony in 1949, at a ceremony held at Floral Heights United |
|
Methodist Church in Wichita Falls; through the years, they have |
|
been blessed with a cherished family that includes their children, |
|
Rob Gaines and his wife and Gayanne Bett and her husband, and three |
|
grandchildren, with whom they treasure spending the special |
|
occasions of life; and |
|
WHEREAS, The couple both graduated from The University of |
|
Texas in 1951 and are now retired; Mrs. Gaines taught at North and |
|
Sam Houston Elementary Schools in Midland, at the Omaha Hebrew |
|
Academy and at Girls and Boystown of America in Nebraska, and at |
|
Midland College, from which she retired in 1991; Mr. Gaines was |
|
employed with Marathon Oil Company in Midland and Northern Natural |
|
Gas Company in Omaha, and he retired from Enron in 1985; they are |
|
valued members of Trinity Presbyterian Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Gaines have enjoyed six decades of |
|
abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an |
|
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|
commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Bob and Betty |
|
Gaines on their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere |
|
best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Gaines as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
