R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Esteemed Waxahachie resident Dinah Weable has been |
|
named the 2009 Crape Myrtle Queen, and her outstanding example of |
|
leadership and civic engagement has earned her the sincere |
|
admiration of all who know her; and |
|
WHEREAS, A most fitting recipient of this notable honor, Mrs. |
|
Weable helped to secure her city's title as the Crape Myrtle Capital |
|
of Texas in 1997 in her role as district manager for State |
|
Representative Jim Pitts; through the years, her casework in behalf |
|
of area citizens has contributed to a host of worthy issues |
|
affecting her fellow Texans, and before she began her career with |
|
the state she also benefited many during a six-year tenure with the |
|
chamber of commerce; and |
|
WHEREAS, This caring woman is a breast cancer survivor who |
|
has drawn on her experience to help others; surprised by her |
|
husband, Ray, who established an annual survivor luncheon in her |
|
honor, she has wholeheartedly embraced the function, and each year |
|
the annual Dinah Weable Breast Cancer Survivors Event raises vital |
|
funds to help pay for lifesaving mammograms; Mrs. Weable also |
|
shares her time with her church, where she serves as a Sunday school |
|
teacher; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Lone Star State is made richer by the efforts of |
|
those who give generously of their time and talents to the |
|
betterment of their community, and Dinah Weable is indeed one such |
|
individual; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Dinah Weable |
|
on her selection as the 2009 Crape Myrtle Queen and honor her for |
|
her exemplary contributions as a role model and community leader; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Weable as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
