R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Pamela Williams is retiring on August 31, 2009, as
  deputy director of support operations in the correctional
  institutions division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice,
  concluding a notable 28-year career in public service; and
         WHEREAS, A Huntsville native, Ms. Williams earned her
  bachelor's degree in criminology and corrections from Sam Houston
  State University in 1981 and began her career as a parole officer
  with the Board of Pardons and Paroles; three years later, she
  transferred to the Texas Department of Corrections, where she
  served as a chief of classification; and
         WHEREAS, After her promotion to senior warden in 1992, Ms.
  Williams held that position at four different facilities over the
  next nine years, overseeing both male and female prisoners; she
  went on to become assistant director for classification and records
  and in August 2006 was appointed deputy director of support
  operations in the correctional institutions division; and
         WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan has demonstrated professionalism
  and dedication throughout her tenure with the TDCJ, earning the
  lasting respect of all who have been privileged to work with her; as
  she embarks on an exciting new chapter in her life, it is indeed a
  pleasure to recognize her outstanding contributions to the Texas
  criminal justice system; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Pamela
  Williams on her retirement as deputy director of support operations
  in the correctional institutions division of the Texas Department
  of Criminal Justice and extend to her sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Williams as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
