R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Pamela Williams is retiring on August 31, 2009, as |
|
deputy director of support operations in the correctional |
|
institutions division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, |
|
concluding a notable 28-year career in public service; and |
|
WHEREAS, A Huntsville native, Ms. Williams earned her |
|
bachelor's degree in criminology and corrections from Sam Houston |
|
State University in 1981 and began her career as a parole officer |
|
with the Board of Pardons and Paroles; three years later, she |
|
transferred to the Texas Department of Corrections, where she |
|
served as a chief of classification; and |
|
WHEREAS, After her promotion to senior warden in 1992, Ms. |
|
Williams held that position at four different facilities over the |
|
next nine years, overseeing both male and female prisoners; she |
|
went on to become assistant director for classification and records |
|
and in August 2006 was appointed deputy director of support |
|
operations in the correctional institutions division; and |
|
WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan has demonstrated professionalism |
|
and dedication throughout her tenure with the TDCJ, earning the |
|
lasting respect of all who have been privileged to work with her; as |
|
she embarks on an exciting new chapter in her life, it is indeed a |
|
pleasure to recognize her outstanding contributions to the Texas |
|
criminal justice system; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Pamela |
|
Williams on her retirement as deputy director of support operations |
|
in the correctional institutions division of the Texas Department |
|
of Criminal Justice and extend to her sincere best wishes for the |
|
future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Williams as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
