R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Joe M. Spigner retired as a communication fire |
|
dispatcher for the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department on June 30, 2009, |
|
after more than 28 years of dedicated service; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on April 1, 1950, in Wichita Falls, Joe Spigner |
|
graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and earned a |
|
bachelor's degree in economics and business administration from |
|
Bishop College in 1976; along the way, he served his country as a |
|
member of the U.S. Air Force and was awarded the Air Force |
|
Commendation Medal; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Spigner began his tenure with the Dallas |
|
Fire-Rescue Department on May 13, 1981, and served as a firefighter |
|
and paramedic before becoming a communication fire dispatcher; he |
|
has long been affiliated with the International Association of |
|
Black Professional Fire Fighters, which he served as south central |
|
regional corresponding secretary, and the Dallas Black Fire |
|
Fighters Association, which he served as president; and |
|
WHEREAS, An avid basketball fan, Mr. Spigner has further |
|
distinguished himself as a member of the Texas Association of |
|
Sports Officials, the Dallas Basketball Officials Association, and |
|
the Fort Worth Chapter of Basketball Officials; moreover, he has |
|
volunteered his time with the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, and |
|
he has been recognized for his community service with such |
|
organizations as the Dallas Independent School District; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Spigner enjoys the love |
|
and support of his wife, Mary, as well as their two sons, Jerwin and |
|
Marcus; and |
|
WHEREAS, Joe Spigner's professionalism, dedication to his |
|
department, and commitment to the public welfare have greatly |
|
benefited his fellow citizens, and he may indeed reflect with pride |
|
on a career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of |
|
his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Joe Spigner on |
|
his retirement from the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department and extend to |
|
him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Spigner as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
