R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. James Wilcox, superintendent of the Longview
  Independent School District, was recently named the 2009 Regional
  Superintendent of the Year by the Region 7 Education Service
  Center; and
         WHEREAS, This well-deserved tribute honors an administrator
  who has dedicated himself to building strong and effective employee
  relations, increasing public involvement in education, and
  creating new educational opportunities for the children of East
  Texas since joining Longview ISD in 2006; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Wilcox earned his bachelor and master of
  education degrees from Lamar University in Beaumont and went on to
  earn his doctorate of education from Texas A&M University; he is a
  member of several professional organizations, including the Texas
  Association of School Administrators, Texas Association of
  Secondary School Principals, Association for Supervision and
  Curriculum Development, and Texas Association of School Boards; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of his notable 30-year career,
  Dr. Wilcox has distinguished himself as an administrator of the
  highest order and as a Texan whose contributions to public
  education have benefited many citizens of the Lone Star State; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. James
  Wilcox, Longview ISD superintendent, on his designation as 2009
  Regional Superintendent of the Year by the Region 7 Education
  Service Center and extend to him best wishes for success and
  happiness in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Wilcox as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
