R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Distinguished military veteran Reyes Rodriguez, |
|
Jr., is celebrating his 90th birthday on September 9, 2009, and this |
|
occasion provides a fitting opportunity to recognize this |
|
outstanding American; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez was born in Pleasanton and grew up in |
|
the Lone Star State with seven brothers and two sisters; answering |
|
his country's call to duty during World War II, he served with |
|
distinction in the Philippines as first aide to General Douglas |
|
MacArthur, and by the time he left the Army he had attained the rank |
|
of brigadier general; and |
|
WHEREAS, Settling in Corpus Christi, Mr. Rodriguez enjoyed a |
|
long and loving relationship with his wife, Beatrice, a descendent |
|
of the Grande family of Spain; and |
|
WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Reyes Rodriguez, Jr., has |
|
demonstrated the courage and patriotism that defines the finest |
|
members of his generation, and it is a pleasure to remind him of the |
|
high regard in which he is held by all who know him; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby warmly congratulate Reyes |
|
Rodriguez, Jr., on his 90th birthday and extend to him gratitude for |
|
his valiant military service and best wishes for continued |
|
happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
