R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The baseball team of Foy H. Moody High School in
  Corpus Christi continued its tradition of excellence during the
  2009 season, claiming the District 30-4A title and ultimately
  playing for the 4A state championship; and
         WHEREAS, After compiling a perfect 12-0 record against their
  district opponents, the Trojans advanced through the playoffs,
  demonstrating the skill and spirited play that made them the No. 1
  ranked team in Texas and one of the top-rated squads in the nation;
  and
         WHEREAS, With its victory over Calallen High School in the
  regional finals, Moody headed for the state tournament for the
  sixth time in the past nine seasons; a win over Fort Worth Arlington
  Heights in its semifinal matchup earned the team a place in the
  title game, where the Trojans fell just short of claiming the
  school's third state baseball championship; and
         WHEREAS, Moody High's exceptional record of 37 wins and just
  4 losses came as a result of the contributions made by each member
  of the roster: Marcus Villanueva, Christian Garza-Gallegos, Rudy
  Flores, J. J. Zapata, Michael Franco, Eric Moreno, Jeremy Olivo,
  Randy Rodriguez, Ray Herrera, Smiley Zapata, Andrew Cantu, Justin
  Perales, Fermin Garcia, Adrian Joel Longoria, Justin Meza, Kyle
  Mungia, Michael Chapa, Michael Salinas, Chris Garza, Orlando
  Perales, Matthew McGraw, Gabriel Grande, Raymond Mungia, Jr.,
  Fernando Hernandez, Johnny Silvas, and Gerardo Gutierrez; and
         WHEREAS, These admirable student-athletes were guided by
  head coach Corky Gallegos and received vital support from Trojan
  coaches Richard Diaz, Joe Curiel, Mike Medina, and Marco Medina as
  well as batboy Trey Sanchez and statistician Richard Rodriguez; and
         WHEREAS, The dedication of the Trojan players resulted in a
  memorable and exciting season that thrilled their many fans, and
  their outstanding performances will be a source of inspiration for
  Moody High teams in the years ahead; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate the Moody High
  School baseball team on its achievements during the 2009 season and
  extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
