R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, David Andrew Shore graduated from the United States
  Military Academy at West Point on May 23, 2009; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Longview residents Stephen and Teresa
  Shore and grandson of R. J. and Grace Shore, also of Longview, this
  admirable young man graduated from Pine Tree High School in 2005; he
  was a standout member of the Pine Tree football team, winning
  All-District and All-East Texas honors as an offensive lineman in
  his junior season and All-District honors as a defensive lineman
  the following year; and
         WHEREAS, David Shore played defensive end on the Army
  football team at West Point and focused on his studies in mechanical
  engineering; he has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the
  Army's engineer branch, traditionally one of the top branch
  selections among cadets; and
         WHEREAS, More than 200 years after its founding, West Point
  remains committed to the task of developing commissioned military
  leaders of talent and character; in completing the academy's
  rigorous curriculum, Second Lieutenant Shore has distinguished
  himself in a challenging course of study that requires the
  completion of demanding academic, physical, and military programs;
  and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his four years at West Point, Second
  Lieutenant Shore demonstrated an exemplary commitment to the
  pursuit of excellence, and with his graduation, he joins an elite
  group of men and women exceptionally qualified to serve this
  country at the highest level; his tremendous accomplishment indeed
  merits special commendation and praise; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Second
  Lieutenant David Andrew Shore on his graduation from the United
  States Military Academy at West Point and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Second Lieutenant Shore as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
