R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The city of Longview has been named the Lone Star |
|
State's Fittest City in the 2009 Texas Round-Up Health and Fitness |
|
Initiative; and |
|
WHEREAS, Launched by Governor Rick Perry in 2004, the Texas |
|
Round-Up seeks to improve the health of all Texans by promoting |
|
physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices, and its Affiliate |
|
Cities program encourages municipal government officials to host |
|
these wellness challenges in their communities; and |
|
WHEREAS, Led by mayor Jay Dean and city manager David |
|
Willard, Longview residents answered the call to get fit, and they |
|
helped their community earn statewide recognition and additional |
|
titles in the school, organization, fitness club, corporation, and |
|
family categories; and |
|
WHEREAS, With the utmost enthusiasm and dedication, the |
|
officials and citizens of Longview are enhancing their overall |
|
health and well-being, and these exemplary efforts indeed merit |
|
special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor the city of Longview |
|
on its noteworthy designation as the Fittest City in Texas. |
