R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The city of Longview has been named the Lone Star
  State's Fittest City in the 2009 Texas Round-Up Health and Fitness
  Initiative; and
         WHEREAS, Launched by Governor Rick Perry in 2004, the Texas
  Round-Up seeks to improve the health of all Texans by promoting
  physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices, and its Affiliate
  Cities program encourages municipal government officials to host
  these wellness challenges in their communities; and
         WHEREAS, Led by mayor Jay Dean and city manager David
  Willard, Longview residents answered the call to get fit, and they
  helped their community earn statewide recognition and additional
  titles in the school, organization, fitness club, corporation, and
  family categories; and
         WHEREAS, With the utmost enthusiasm and dedication, the
  officials and citizens of Longview are enhancing their overall
  health and well-being, and these exemplary efforts indeed merit
  special recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor the city of Longview
  on its noteworthy designation as the Fittest City in Texas.
