R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The vitality of the political process in Texas
  depends on the active participation of its citizens, and Derek Ryan
  has upheld his ideals by contributing his considerable abilities to
  support the Republican Party of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, A sixth-generation Texan, Mr. Ryan began his work
  for the Republican Party when he was still a student at The
  University of Texas at Austin, helping to track legislation during
  the 76th Texas legislative session; and
         WHEREAS, He was offered a full-time position with the state
  party after graduating from UT with a bachelor's degree in
  government, and he worked on several research projects that dealt
  with issues such as precinct targeting, tracking election-related
  legislation, and compiling reports on opposition candidates; and
         WHEREAS, In 2002, Mr. Ryan was put in charge of the Republican
  Party's database of registered Texas voters and worked to collect
  electoral history data from all Texas counties and to compile
  customized voting lists for local and statewide candidates; and
         WHEREAS, This dedicated Republican has further benefited the
  party by providing training to members in a number of subjects, and
  he contributed to the endeavors of the 2003 and 2007 inaugural
  committees of Governor Rick Perry and Lieutenant Governor David
  Dewhurst; his political experience also includes service in the
  offices of Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, where he assisted with
  constituent requests and aided the work of the Senate Committee on
  Commerce, Science, and Transportation; and
         WHEREAS, In the spring of 2009, Mr. Ryan embarked on a new
  chapter in his career by founding Ryan Data Solutions, a company
  devoted to providing research, voter data, and database management
  for Republican candidates; and
         WHEREAS, Derek Ryan embodies the spirit of public engagement
  that is the foundation of American government, and he may indeed
  take pride in his many notable career achievements; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor Derek Ryan for his
  service to the Republican Party of Texas and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for his continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Ryan as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
