H.R. No. 96
 
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Mavis De La Rosa is retiring from the Mineola
  Independent School District in 2009, drawing to a close an
  exemplary career in education that has spanned more than four
  decades; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Grand Saline, Dr. De La Rosa graduated
  from Grand Saline High School and attended Tyler Junior College;
  she went on to earn a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in
  counseling at East Texas State University, and she later earned a
  doctorate in reading and mid-management; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. De La Rosa began her 42-year career in education
  by practice teaching at East Ward Elementary School in Mineola; she
  taught for four years in Grand Saline and then returned to the
  Mineola ISD; over the years, she distinguished herself as an
  elementary school teacher, middle school counselor, and curriculum
  director, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues; and
         WHEREAS, For 19 years, Dr. De La Rosa was principal of Mineola
  Primary School, and more recently she has been director of testing
  and special programming at Mineola High School; a number of her
  former students are now teachers in the Mineola district, and her
  two sons were both valedictorians at Mineola High School; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. De La Rosa's dedication, professionalism, and
  commitment to her students greatly benefited the community of
  Mineola, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well
  spent as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Mavis De
  La Rosa on her retirement from the Mineola Independent School
  District and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. De La Rosa as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
