R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
  by a great and enduring love, Garnet and Ida Stokes of Pine Mills
  celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 20, 2009; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, Mr. and Mrs. Stokes have nurtured
  a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with the
  addition of their children, Beverly Stokes, who passed away in
  1994, Rick Stokes and his wife Pam of Nacogdoches, and Ron Stokes of
  San Antonio, and grandchildren Ryan Stokes and Lori Stokes; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Stokes had a fulfilling 25-year career at First
  National Bank of Quitman, and Mr. Stokes worked for Continental
  Battery for 30 years; and
         WHEREAS, Much has changed in the world over the past five
  decades, but this devoted husband and wife have remained constant
  in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love
  has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with
  grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Garnet and Ida
  Stokes on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend
  to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Stokes as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
