R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|
by a great and enduring love, Bill and Glenda Scott celebrated their |
|
50th wedding anniversary on June 27, 2009; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Scott were united in matrimony at First |
|
Baptist Church in Mineola in 1959; through the years, they have |
|
nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with |
|
the addition of their children, Gayla and Sheri, and their |
|
cherished grandchildren, J. J. Hale and Scott Hale of Lewisville; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Scott worked at Builders Steel Construction |
|
Company before being called to active duty in August 1961; he later |
|
spent 12 years in the cable television business; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Scott worked as a calculator operator at Morton |
|
Foods; she later established the successful Scott Catering, where |
|
she baked wedding cakes and prepared catered food for community |
|
events, class reunions, weddings, and company parties; she opened a |
|
floral shop in 1980 and expanded her prosperous catering business; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Ever the entrepreneurs, Mr. Scott opened Bill Scott |
|
Photography in 1985 and the couple combined their catering and |
|
photography businesses, later adding Scott Travel to their thriving |
|
businesses; and |
|
WHEREAS, Much has changed in the world over the past five |
|
decades, but this devoted husband and wife have remained constant |
|
in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love |
|
has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with |
|
grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Bill and |
|
Glenda Scott on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and |
|
extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Scott as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
