R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jack Sorenson has distinguished himself as a
  talented and successful artist for more than three decades; and
         WHEREAS, Born in 1954, he grew up working on his father's dude
  ranch and frontier town on the rim of Palo Duro Canyon; variously
  employed as a gunfighter, stagecoach driver, and horse trainer,
  Jack Sorenson knew all along that he was destined to be an artist,
  and after selling out his first solo show in 1974, he began pursuing
  art full-time; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Sorenson's paintings have since been featured on
  the cover of more than three dozen magazines, including Western
  Horseman, The Quarter Horse Journal, The Cattleman, Beef, and
  Today's Horse, and he is one of the best selling artists for Leanin'
  Tree Christmas and Greeting Cards; moreover, he is the author and
  illustrator of two books, Everything I Know I Learned from My
  Grandpa: Silver-Haired Wisdom for the Young at Heart and Growing Up
  Cowboy; and
         WHEREAS, Wholly dedicated to his art, Jack Sorenson has
  touched the lives of individuals across Texas and beyond with his
  vivid and detailed renderings of cowboy life, and the Lone Star
  State is indeed proud to call him a native son; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas,
  1st Called Session, hereby honor artist Jack Sorenson for his
  professional achievements and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Sorenson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
