SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 14
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the men's and women's track and field teams from Texas
  A&M University, which recently won the National Collegiate
  Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships; and
         WHEREAS, The Aggies became the first men's and women's
  teams from the same university to win the outdoor championships
  in the same year since 1990; the Aggie men amassed 48 points and
  the women 50 points in winning the school's first national
  championships in track and field; and
         WHEREAS, These young men and women have demonstrated great
  talent and perseverance throughout the season, and athletes from
  across the spectrum of events played an important role in
  securing these championships; and
         WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of
  head coach Pat Henry, the only coach in National Collegiate
  Athletic Association history to win men's and women's titles in
  the same year, the Aggies have developed exceptional teamwork,
  confidence, and discipline; and
         WHEREAS, The students, faculty, and staff at Texas A&M
  University and Texans across the state are proud of the Aggies
  for their hard work, their impressive skills, and their fine
  sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the men's and
  women's track and field teams from Texas A&M University on their
  successful season and extend congratulations to them on winning
  the National Collegiate Athletic Association Outdoor Track and
  Field Championships; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  these outstanding athletes as an expression of high regard from
  the Texas Senate.
