SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 28

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Children's Advocacy Center of Denton County on the occasion of the ribbon-cutting ceremony being held July 15, 2009, for the grand opening of its new facility; and

WHEREAS, The Children's Advocacy Center of Denton County was created by a task force that was formed in 1994; the center became fully operational in April of 1997; its mission is to provide justice and healing for abused children through interagency collaboration; and

WHEREAS, Today, as the county population continues to grow, the center remains dedicated to fulfilling its mission through its many services and programs and provides emotional healing through comprehensive counseling for victims and their family members; and

WHEREAS, The new 14,070-square-foot building will provide a place for law enforcement, Child Protective Services, and various professional agencies to work effectively on child abuse cases; it will have space for the agency's growing therapy program, rooms for forensic interviews, and offices in which partner agencies will be able to work their cases collaboratively; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the Children's Advocacy Center of Denton County on its valuable work and accomplishments and extend congratulations to all associated with the center on the completion of its new facility; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of this occasion.
