SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 31
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Louis Avery Sinclair
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Lubbock in mourning the loss of Louis Avery Sinclair,
  who died June 12, 2009, at the age of 85; and
 
         WHEREAS, Louis Sinclair was born April 3, 1924, in
  Gardendale, Texas; a 1942 graduate of Post High School, he
  proudly served the nation during World War II in the United
  States Navy in the Pacific theater as a member of the 82nd United
  States Naval Construction Battalion, also known as the Seabees;
  and
 
         WHEREAS, Following the war, Mr. Sinclair married Nina Lee
  Green on January 18, 1946; the couple raised three children, who
  were a source of pride and joy and who blessed them with numerous
  grandchildren; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mr. Sinclair enjoyed a long and productive career
  with the Southwestern Public Service Company, where he was known
  for his unmatched skill with tools and equipment and his keen
  understanding of the inner workings of machinery; he worked at
  the Tuco power plant in Abernathy for 22 years and then became
  maintenance foreman and supervisor of the Jones Station power
  plant in Lubbock, where he spent another 18 years; and
 
         WHEREAS, Active in community affairs, Mr. Sinclair was an
  enthusiastic volunteer with the local 4-H chapter and the Future
  Farmers of America; he was awarded an Honorary Farmer Degree from
  the Abernathy Future Farmers of America in 1967; and
 
         WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced his faith in his
  daily life, Mr. Sinclair was a longtime member of the Graham
  Chapel Church of Christ; he was also a member of the Masonic Lodge
  for more than 50 years; and
 
         WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he
  gave generously to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued
  counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
 
         WHEREAS, Louis Sinclair was a devoted husband, father, and
  grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be cherished
  forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 81st
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere
  condolences to the bereaved family of Louis Avery Sinclair: his
  devoted wife, Nina Sinclair; his sons and daughters-in-law,
  Louis David and Connie Sinclair and Jerry Don and Jacqueline
  Sinclair; his daughter and son-in-law, Terri Sue and Dan Guy; and
  his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Louis Avery Sinclair.
