Amend CSHB 300 (house committee report) as follows:
(1) In Article 1 of the bill, strike page 12, line 16, through page 13, line 5, and substitute the following:
(b) The committee is composed of seven members as follows:
(1) the chair of the Senate Committee on
Transportation and Homeland Security;
(2) the chair of the House Committee on
Transportation;
(3) two members of the senate appointed by the
lieutenant governor;
(4) two members of the house of representatives
appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives; and
(5) a member appointed by the lieutenant governor or
the speaker of the house of representatives on an alternating
basis.
(c) Except as provided by Subsection (d), an appointed
member of the committee serves at the pleasure of the appointing
official.
(d) The term of a member appointed under Subsection (b)(5)
expires February 1 of each odd-numbered year.
Sec. 205.003. PRESIDING OFFICER. The member appointed under
Section 205.002(b)(5) is the presiding officer of the committee.
(2) In Article 1 of the bill, strike page 17, line 25,
through page 18, line 4, and substitute the following:
(c) The speaker of the house of representatives, not later
than January 15, 2010, shall make the initial appointment of a
member under Section 205.002(b)(5), Transportation Code, as added
by this section. The member appointed by the speaker under this
section serves a one-year term that begins on February 1, 2010, and
ends on February 1, 2011.
