Amend HB 300 on third reading by amending Section 201.051(h), 
Transportation Code, as added by Floor Amendment No. 4 by Veasey, 
amending Floor Amendment No. 1 by McClendon to CSHB 300, to read as 
follows:
	(h)  A vacancy in the office of commissioner is filled by 
election by the legislature.  The legislature fills a vacancy by the 
vote of each chamber of the legislature sitting separately.  A 
person is elected as commissioner by the legislature if the person 
receives a majority of the votes cast in each chamber of the 
legislature for the person's election.  To be eligible to be a 
candidate for commissioner under this subsection, other than for 
the commissioner elected at-large, a person must be a resident of 
the geographic district for which the vacancy exists.
