Amend HB 2224 (house committee printing) as follows:                         
	(1)  On page 1, strike lines 5 and 6, and substitute the 
following:          
	SECTION 1.  Section 42.042, Human Resources Code, is amended 
by amending Subsection (e) and adding Subsection (e-2) to read as 
follows:
	(2)  On page 1, line 24, strike "and".                                  
	(3)  On page 2, line 4, between "child" and the period insert 
the following:
		; and                                                                  
		(9)_ ensure that food served in a day-care center, a 
group day-care home, or a family home meets the federal nutritional 
guidelines of the child and adult care food program under 42 U.S.C. 
Section  1766
	(4)  On page 2, between lines 4 and 5, insert the following:                   
	(e-2)  The department shall collaborate with the Department 
of Agriculture in developing minimum standards under Subsection 
(e)(9) relating to healthy food service.
	(5)  Add the following appropriately numbered SECTION to the 
bill and renumber subsequent SECTIONS of the bill as appropriate:
	SECTION ____.  Section 42.0421, Human Resources Code, is 
amended by adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
	(e)  The department shall develop and implement minimum 
training standards for day-care centers, group day-care homes, or 
family homes that address the role that those child-care providers 
have in preventing obesity and overweight conditions among 
preschool-age children, including the promotion of proper 
nutrition and appropriate physical activity.
