Amend CSHB 3646 (Senate committee printing) by striking Section 42.160 (on page 7, lines 13 through 29) and substituting the following: Sec. 42.160. HIGH SCHOOL ALLOTMENT. (a) A school district is entitled to an annual allotment in an amount determined by the commissioner under Subsection (a-1) for each student in weighted average daily attendance in grades 9 through 12 in the district. For purposes of this subsection, the number of students in weighted average daily attendance is calculated by multiplying the number of students in average daily attendance in grades 9 through 12 in the district by the ratio for the district of the number of students in weighted average daily attendance to the number of students in average daily attendance. (a-1) The commissioner shall determine the amount of the allotment provided under Subsection (a) so that the total state cost of funding the allotment equals the total state cost of funding the allotment that would have resulted if the allotment were provided in the amount of $275 for each student in average daily attendance in grades 9 through 12 in the district. (b) School district that is required to take action under Chapter 41 to reduce its wealth per student to the equalized wealth level is entitled to a credit, in the amount of the allotment to which the district is entitled under this section, against the total amount required under Section 41.093 for the district to purchase attendance credits. A school district that is otherwise ineligible for state aid under this chapter is entitled to receive allotments under this section.
