Amend SB 1362 (committee printing) as follows:
(1) In SECTION 1 of the bill, between proposed Sections
30.106(d) and (e), Education Code (page 2, between lines 46 and 47),
insert the following:
(e) A student in a Texas Youth Commission educational
program may not be released on parole from the commission unless the
student participates, to the extent required by commission rule, in
the positive behavior support system under Subsection (c). A
student in a commission educational program who exhibits deficits
in reading on the assessments adopted under Subsection (b)(1) must
also participate in reading instruction to the extent required by
this section and by commission rule before the student may be
released on parole.
(2) In SECTION 1 of the bill, in proposed Section 30.106(e),
Education Code (page 2, line 47), strike "(e)" and substitute
"(f)".
(3) In SECTION 1 of the bill, in proposed Section 30.106(f),
Education Code (page 2, line 53), strike "(f)" and substitute
"(g)".
(4) In SECTION 1 of the bill, in proposed Section 30.106(g),
Education Code (page 2, line 57), strike "(g) Subsections (e) and
(f)" and substitute "(h) Subsections (f) and (g)".
(5) Between SECTIONS 2 and 3 of the bill (page 2, between
lines 66 and 67), insert the following new SECTION and renumber the
subsequent SECTION of the bill accordingly:
SECTION 3. Section 30.106(e), Education Code, as added by
this Act, applies to release on parole from the Texas Youth
Commission beginning September 1, 2010.
