Amend SB 1364 (Senate committee printing) by striking SECTIONS 1 and 2 of the bill (page 1, lines 11-49) and substituting the following: SECTION 1. Section 25.083, Education Code, is amended to read as follows: Sec. 25.083. SCHOOL DAY INTERRUPTIONS. (a) The board of trustees of each school district shall adopt and strictly enforce a policy limiting interruptions of classes during the school day for nonacademic activities such as announcements and sales promotions. At a minimum, the policy must limit announcements other than emergency announcements to once during the school day. (b) The board of trustees of each school district shall adopt and strictly enforce a policy limiting the removal of students from class for remedial tutoring or test preparation. A district may not remove a student from a regularly scheduled class for remedial tutoring or test preparation if, as a result of the removal, the student would miss more than 10 percent of the school days on which the class is offered. SECTION 2. Section 25.092(a), Education Code, is amended to read as follows: (a) Except as provided by this section, a student in any grade level from kindergarten through grade 12 may not be given credit for a class unless the student is in attendance for at least 90 percent of the days the class is offered.
