AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

This bill changes the name of the Crime Stoppers Advisory Council to the Texas Crime Stoppers Council (council).  Current law requires the council to certify local level Crime Stoppers Organizations.  As a result of that responsibility, the council does not fit the definition of an advisory council.  The council, in consultation with the Office of the Governor, requested assistance in making this change.

H.B. 590 amends current law relating to the name of the Crime Stoppers Advisory Council.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
