AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

Currently, under existing statute, fire protection personnel, emergency medical services personnel, and certain law enforcement officers must renew their licenses and are required to complete and submit a renewal application. This process makes them provide their past history information from 10 to 15 to 20 years ago, but this information has already been provided to the state. This is a waste of state resources and tax dollars.

This bill eliminates the burden on the renewal applicant to continually resubmit information that has already been submitted to the state if the information is unchanged since the applicant's last application.

H.B. 846 amends current law relating to the license or certificate renewal process for emergency medical services personnel and certain law enforcement officers.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
