AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

Under current law, the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) is authorized to present not more than 20 awards each year for professional achievement in the areas of valor, public service, and professional achievement.

 

H.B. 1492 allows TCLEOSE to present awards related to not more than a total of 20 incidents and accomplishments each year.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 1701.401(f), Occupations Code, to authorize the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education to present awards relating to not more than a total of 20 incidents and accomplishments, rather than present not more than 20 awards, each year.

 

SECTION 2.  Effective date:  upon passage or September 1, 2009.
