AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT
Under current law, district judges are paid an annual salary of $125,000 by the commissioners court, and are allowed to earn up to $15,000 in additional compensation for extra-judicial services performed by the district judge, which is provided by the county where a judge serves.
H.B. 2804 increases the compensation authorized to be paid to a juvenile board member in Duval County to $10,000 from $3,600.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS
SECTION 1. Amends Section 152.0721(c), Human Resources Code, to authorize the commissioners court to pay the juvenile board members an annual salary set by the commissioners court at not less than $1,200 or more than $10,000, rather than $3,600, for the added duties imposed on the members.
SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2009.
