AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

H.B. 3061 amends current law relating to the use of state voter registration funds to employ temporary staff in a voter registrar's office.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 19.004(a), Election Code, to authorize state funds disbursed under this chapter, except as provided by Subsection (d), to be used only to defray expenses of the registrar's office in connection with voter registration, including additional expenses related to the employment of temporary voter registration personnel for not more than 39 weeks in a state fiscal year.  Makes nonsubstantive changes.

 

SECTION 2.  Effective date:  September 1, 2009.
