BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

 

During disaster situations, all assets must be utilized in ensure a quick and safe recovery for an affected area. Chief appraisers in counties could provide valuable information regarding area hit by a disaster and help in the damage assessment.

 

HB 4106 would allow local chief appraisers to share their information with federal, state, or local emergency management officials.

 

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

 

ANALYSIS

 

This bill amends the Tax Code to allow county chief appraisers, if requested, to share information relevant to the recovery or planning of a disaster with local, state, and federal emergency management authorities.

 

EFFECTIVE DATE

 

The effective date is immediate if it receives the required two thirds of all members elected to both houses, if not, the effective date of this bill is September 1, 2009.
