Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

The City of Greenville has requested that the portion of Interstate Highway 30 that runs through the city be designated as the Martin Luther King, Jr., Freeway.  This action is supported by a resolution from the Greenville City Council.

As proposed,  S.B. 337 designates a certain part of Interstate Highway 30 as the Martin Luther King, Jr., Freeway.  The bill requires the Texas Department of Transportation to design and construct memorial markers to contain certain information and to erect the markers in certain locations.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the opinion of the committee that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
