BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Many brave Texans served in the Vietnam War on behalf of the nation. In order to honor their

service and sacrifice, many believe the state should designate a day of recognition for them.

S.B. 1903 establishes March 29 as Vietnam Veterans Day in honor of the men and women who served in the Vietnam War on behalf of this nation and requires that Vietnam Veterans Day be regularly observed by appropriate ceremonies.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
