Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Currently, the land located within the boundaries of the proposed Blaketree Municipal Utility District No. 1 (district) is undeveloped.  The district will be developed as a master-planned community that will include single-family home sites and commercial property.  The district will lie in an unincorporated area in Montgomery County; will have all of the powers granted to municipal utility districts for water, sewer, drainage, and road facilities; and follow the municipal utility district template created by the Senate Intergovernmental Relations Committee.  Due to the size of the district, the bill also provides the district with the power to subdivide.

S.B. 1979 provides for the creation of the Blaketree Municipal Utility District No. 1 of Montgomery County.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the Committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
