AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT
As proposed, S.B. 2079 requires that the physician responsible for a patient's continuing care plan specifically address transportation of the patient after discharge from a state hospital and coordination of that issue with the local mental health authority and other appropriate persons with whom the patient has authorized communication.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS
SECTION 1. Amends Section 574.081(b), Health and Safety Code, to require that the continuing care plan specifically address transportation of the patient after discharge and coordination of that issue with the local mental health authority and other appropriate persons with whom the patient has authorized communication.
SECTION 2. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2009.
