BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

 

The current Comal County Juvenile Board is composed of the county judge, the judge of each of the county courts at law in the county, the judge of the 207th District Court, and additional judge of the district court having jurisdiction in Comal County, to be appointed by the local administrative court judge, and the criminal district attorney of Comal County.

 

S.B. 2134 adds the judge of the 433rd District Court of the Comal County Juvenile Board.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. 

 

ANALYSIS

 

S.B. 2134 amends the Human Resource Code to include the judge of the 433rd District Court among the members of the Comal County Juvenile Board and to repeal the provision that prohibits the criminal district attorney of Comal County from voting except to break a tie vote of the other members of the board.

 

S.B. 2134 repeals Section 512.0521(a-1), Human Resource Code.

 

EFFECTIVE DATE

 

Upon passage, or, if the Act does not receive the necessary vote, the Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
