AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

According to the most current Office of Court Administration data, there were 29,196 pending cases in the county courts of Hidalgo County.  While many counties of comparable population saw a decrease in the number of pending cases from January 2007 to January 2009, Hidalgo County realized an increase of over five percent to the courts' pending caseload. In order to address the number of cases in the Hidalgo County court system this bill creates two additional county courts at law in Hidalgo County.

As proposed,  S.B. 2469 relates to the creation of two additional county courts at law in Hidalgo County.
