AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

As proposed,  S.B. 2583 amends current law relating to coverage under a meet and confer agreement for certain municipal firefighters and police officers.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 147.002, Local Government Code, as follows:

 

Sec. 147.002.  DEFINITIONS.  Redefines "firefighter," "firefighter employee group," "police officer," and "police officer employee group."

 

SECTION 2.  Effective date: September 1, 2009.
