A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the eligibility requirements for appointment as county |
|
|
elections administrator. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 31.034, Election Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 31.034. ELIGIBILITY. (a) To be eligible for |
|
|
appointment as county elections administrator, a person must: |
|
|
(1) be a qualified voter of the state; and |
|
|
(2) have received a bachelor's degree from an |
|
|
accredited college or university. |
|
|
(b) A person who served as a county elections administrator |
|
|
on or before September 1, 2009, is exempt from the educational |
|
|
requirements prescribed by Subsection (a)(2). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
