A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the date that an increase in the salary of a member of a |
|
|
county commissioners court may take effect. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 152.013, Local Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) An increase in the salary of a member of the |
|
|
commissioners court may not take effect until after the date of the |
|
|
first primary election: |
|
|
(1) at which the names of candidates for a party's |
|
|
nomination for the member's office appear on the ballot; and |
|
|
(2) that occurs after the date the increase is adopted |
|
|
by the commissioners court. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
