A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to an emergency power supply for convalescent and nursing |
|
|
homes and related institutions. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 242.037, Health and Safety Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (j) to read as follows: |
|
|
(j) The minimum standards adopted by the executive |
|
|
commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission under this |
|
|
section must require that each institution provide emergency |
|
|
electrical power with an emergency generator located on the |
|
|
premises. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Not later than January 1, 2010, the executive |
|
|
commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission shall |
|
|
adopt the minimum standards required by Section 242.037(j), Health |
|
|
and Safety Code, as added by this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
